Digital Asset Treasuries (DATs)

Digital Asset Treasuries (DATs) refers to public companies that hold crypto (typically Bitcoin/Ethereum/Solana/etc) as a strategic reserve asset to preserve and grow capital in a digital economy.

Digital Asset Treasuries (DATs) refer to the practice where publicly listed companies (those traded on stock exchanges like NYSE, NASDAQ, or international bourses) hold cryptocurrencies. Primarily Bitcoin (BTC), but also Ethereum (ETH), or other digital assets, on their corporate balance sheet as a treasury reserve asset, similar to how companies traditionally hold cash, bonds, or gold.

This concept gained prominence after MicroStrategy (NASDAQ: MSTR) began aggressively accumulating Bitcoin in 2020 under CEO Michael Saylor, positioning BTC as a superior long-term store of value compared to fiat currency (especially in inflationary environments).
